Location:
Big Lake is located in the Central Cariboo region of British Columbia,
east of the City of Williams Lake. At 150 Mile House, 25 km (15.5
mi) south of Williams Lake
on BC Hwy 97, turn east onto the Horsefly
Road. A couple of miles later, turn left onto the Likely
Road. Big Lake is located on the Likely Road about 40 km (25 mi)
from 150 Mile House.

Resorts
& Campsites:
There are no resorts on Big Lake however, there is camping space
and a boat launch located on the north side of the lake. A general
store and gas station are also located on the Likely Road at
Big Lake. A public lake access is located on the south side.
Besides fishing, Big Lake is an excellent swimming and waterskiing
lake.

Fishing
Report: Trophy size Lake
Char of 30 lbs and better have been caught. Kokanee
and rainbow
averaging in the 1 - 2 lb range are common, with some rainbows
weighing as much as 12 lbs or better.
Trolling
is the most popular method used in Big Lake, however, fly
fishing and spin casting meet also with good success. Although
mid-summer is still productive, early and late summer are best
for fishing.

Viewscape:
Big Lake is surrounded by hilly terrain. The south side is mainly
coniferous forest of pine,
fir and
spruce, with
cottages, an elementary school, community hall and lake access.
The north shore consists mainly of cleared ranch and residential
land with poplar
and aspen
groves. Two public lake access roads can be found on the north
side. There are two sunken islands in this very beautiful lake.

Marguerite
Lake: Marguerite Lake is located just a few miles
west of Big Lake. Turn off the Likely Road on to a rough 2 wheel
drive Marguerite Lake Road. It contains wild stock rainbows
up to 2 lbs. Fly fishing, spin casting and trolling. The action
slows down dramatically in the heat of mid-summer. No resorts,
but there is a small camping site and a place to launch your
car top boat.
Skulow
Lake: Skulow, a small aerated lake, is located on
the east side of the Likely Road a few kilometres before Big
Lake. Stocked Eastern
Brook Trout and Rainbows up to 2 lbs. are caught on the
fly, spin casting or trolling light gear. Electric motors only.
