Location: Marmot Lake is located west of Quesnel on the Nazko Road. There is a good gravel access road veering south soon after you cross the Nazko River.

Resorts & Campsites: A rough recreation site is available for camping and cartop boat launching. Limited services and supplies are available from Nazko 12 km (7 mi) further along the Nazko Road.

Fishing Report: As the fish often tend to be muddy, many find catch-and-release the best type of fishing for this lake. With the rainbow averaging around 2 pounds and often reaching up to eight, many prefer to use flies and small spinning lures to entice the fish.

Viewscape: The rolling terrain surrounding the lake is covered with an open spruce, pine and aspen forest.

Shoreline: Reeds border most of the lake, with very few shrubs on the actual shoreline.

Crater Lake: Crater Lake is a 10.77 ha / 26.60 acre lake that is located southwest of Marmot. Stocked with rainbows and offering a small Forest Service campsite at the end of a 1.6 km (1 mi.) hike. Crater Lake is enclosed in a basin, as the name suggests, and you are able to easily view the surrounding lodgepole pine forest that blankets the surrounding rolling hills. Access to the lakeshore is generally good through the open forest. Angler pressure is low.
