Location:
Chilko Lake is located in the Chilcotin Country of British Columbia,
Canada. Follow The Chilcotin Highway (Hwy 20) west from Williams
Lake, BC to Tatla Lake. Turn left (south)
onto the Bluff Lake road and drive for 4.2 km (2.6 mi.). Keep left
on the Tatlayoko Lake Road for 16.3 km (10.1 mi.) to the Chilko
Lake Road. Travel 41.7 km (25.9 mi.) to Chilko Lake.
Resorts
& Campsites:
World class resorts. All services and facilities are available
at Chilko Lake. There are 2 BCFS campsites on Chilko Lake. The
first that you will come to has camping in mature fir and pine
along a pebble shoreline of translucent greeny blue water. It
has a concrete boat launch. This 8 vehicle site can be very windy.
The second BCFS campsite is called the Chilko Lake movie site
because the film "The Bear" was filmed in this area. This camp
is an open 8 vehicle site with the spectacular coast mountains
offering a picture postcard view.

Fishing
Report: Chilko Lake contains big fish. The Bull Trout
go to 10 lbs and the rainbows to 6 lbs. or better. Trolling is
the preferred method of fishing, however, fly fishermen do very
well at the creek mouths.

This lake can be very windy.

Viewscape:
Considered by many to be British Columbia's most beautiful lake,
Chilko stretches 84 km (52 mi.). Huge snowpeaked mountains and
glaciers surround the lake.
