Ashcroft,

The
historical community of Ashcroft has many reminders of the Gold Rush
Days. The local museum will take you on a stroll through those exciting
days when Ashcroft was a site where freight from the Canadian Pacific
Railway was unloaded, then hauled to the nearby Cariboo Wagon Road to
go north to the Gold Rush communities. Visitors can get a glimpse at
the past at the Ashcroft Museum.
On
Highway 97, just a couple of minutes west of Ashcroft you will find
Ashcroft Manor. This major stopping place provided flour and other provisions
to travellers heading north. At one time the owners also sponsored the
Ashcroft Hunt - with coyotes not foxes!
