Viewscape:
Little Heffley and Heffley Lake are
situated near the eastern edge of the Fraser Plateau, part of
the Interior Plateau Physiograph Region. The lakes lie in a dead
ice pocket at the end of the Pleistocene. The area around the
lake is covered by Douglas
fir, with clearings that have houses, summer cottages, ranches,
farms and logging.
Shoreline:
Except for the broad littoral shelf at the west end, the drop-off
into deep water from the shore is moderate. The shoreline is for
the most part organic and there is a thick growth of aquatic vegetation
found around the shore. The riparian fringe around the lake is
made up of cottonwood, water birch, snowberry, red orsier dogwood,
willows, reeds, sedges and cattails. The backshore vegetation
consists of areas dotted with Douglas fir and grass cover.
