Fishing Report: Even with the late start for fishing - early July - the productivity of the lake remains good until the fall. There are reports of trout over 4 lbs. but the average is usually around 1 lb. Dry fly fishing and most traditional B.C. patterns seem to do well in this high elevation lake. The lake has a good Chironomid hatch and it is during this time that fishing may be at its best. Spinning gear is also a good bet. A number of good spawning streams feed into Garibaldi Lake making stocking unnecessary. Although the fish will not grow really large in this or other alpine lakes, it is the fabulous scenery that will entice you back.
Be sure to visit Fishbc.com for angling information!

Viewscape: Spectacular scenery abounds around the lake. Majestic mountains tower in the background, beautiful glaciers glisten in the sun and volcanic rock walls inspire awe. The alpine forest is a photographer's delight with the vibrant colours of the trees and wildflowers.

Shoreline: The lake waters are heavily coloured by the glacial silt from nearby glaciers. The mouths of some of the streams are gravelly; often a congregating point for spawning fish. The lakeshore is quite heavily forested in places.

Nearby Lakes

Lesser Garibaldi Lake - Lesser Garibaldi is a small hike in lake of 10 ha. (25 ac.), located just west of Garibaldi Lake. This beautiful lake supports good numbers of small Rainbows up to 1+ lbs. Camping facilities can be found at Garibaldi Lake.

Note: Always check your current BC Fishing regulations before you start fishing a new lake.
