Location:
This hike-in lake may be accessed via the Kaslo
and Joker Mill-Keen Creek roads or by the Kokanee Creek Road southwest
of Balfour on Highway 3A. The lake is located in the Kokanee
Glacier Park and is at an elevation of 1981 m (6498 ft). The
Slocan Chief Cabin provides shelter and cooking facilities.

Fishing
Report: Yellowstone cutthroat trout are resident in this
deep, cold alpine lake. Flycasting and spinfishing are the most
popular methods used. Ant, beetle and fly patterns are used with
great success as well as black spinners and wedding rings with maggots.
Mid-July to mid-October are the best times of the year to visit
Kokanee Lake.

Heather, Upper Joker, Helen Dean, Kaslo, Keen, Garland, Tanal and
Sunset Lakes are all located in the park and provide good fishing
to anyone willing to hike-in.
