The Kicking Horse River (BC Rockies):

The headwaters of the Kicking Horse River are in Yoho National Park, one of the most spectacular parks in British Columbia. This region of the BC Rockies is popular with tourists from all parts of the world. The reasons are because of the awesome scenery and outdoor adventures that range from backcountry hiking to wildlife viewing to river rafting.

The Kicking Horse River is world renown as a whitewater rafting destination. This is a very scenic and exciting river run. It is not a lengthy river, but is prime whitewater, especially through the canyon. It offers rapids, drops, waves, rocks and narrow passages. The Kicking Horse River, is everything a whitewater run should be, and more!

The region has several experienced operators who offer guided whitewater rafting trips on the Kicking Horse River. They are knowledgeable and know exactly the hazards this river springs on whitewater rafters. Enjoy a scenic and adrenaline packed whitewater run . . . an afternoon on the Kicking Horse River.

The Blaeberry River (BC Rockies):

Situated just west of Golden, the Blaeberry River is almost the opposite of the Kicking Horse River. It is a more placid river, winding past panoramic scenery of the Rocky Mountains. Part of this river run follows the route taken by David Thompson on his quest for a trading route in the early 1800's. There is an abundance of wildlife in this region offering many photo ops. Whether you select an oar trip where you do your share of paddling, or go for a motor powered raft trip, running a river is an excellent and exciting way to see remote wilderness..

The Kootenay River (BC Rockies):

Starting near the junction of the Kootenay and Yoho National Parks, is an excellent whitewater rafting river, the Kootenay. From the head waters, it heads south parallel to the Rocky Mountain Trench, becoming part of the Trench at Canal Flats. The river continues south past Fort Steele, into Montana, then it loops into Idaho and back to BC south of Creston. It eventually becomes part of Kootenay Lake. Most of the Kootenay River becomes the western arm of the lake that makes its way into the Columbia River at Castlegar and gives it's name to Kootenay Country.

Scenery in this region is spectacular and breathtaking with mountains in all directions. A host of recreational activities makes this area popular with outdoor enthusiasts. Enjoy action all year long. This part of British Columbia excels in adventures including down hill and cross country skiing, mountain climbing, back country hiking, mountain biking, fishing, and whitewater rafting.

Rafting the Upper Kootenay River means fast waters, grade three rapids, waves, rocks and pools. Companies throughout the BC Rockies offer specialized whitewater trips on the Kootenay, trips designed for the adventurers or family fun. Wildlife is abundant. Take advantage of the many photo taking opportunities as the expedition heads down river. Other interesting, whitewater rivers in this region are St. Mary's, Elk, and the White. Enjoy excitement in the great outdoors, a whitewater rafting experience in the BC Rockies.
