The Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, Canada, is located along the Strait of Georgia from the Howe Sound to Desolation Sound. Numerous bays and inlets create protected ocean beaches and lagoons.

The Coast Range Mountains loom above the Sunshine Coast. This area is one of BC's best sport fishing and recreation areas. Bed & Breakfast Inns, vacation cottagesoffer lodging & accommodations, while sea kayaking and marine tour companies offer west coast adventures.

Ferries provide the main access to BC's Sunshine Coast. Ferries leave from Horseshoe Bay Terminal.

Vehicle Access Parks:

From Langdale to Half Moon Bay:
Roberts Creek Provincial Park. The park is located 14 km west of Gibsons. A 24 site camground, picnic area, swimming area and sani-station are provided. Anglers may try their luck for salmon in the offshore waters.

Sargeant Bay Provincial Park. This park is north of Sechelt and provides an excellent day-use area with trails, beaches and picnicking areas. The surrounding waters are perfect for canoeing, kayaking, board sailing, scuba diving and fishing. A boat launching ramp is provided.

Porpoise Bay Provincial Park. This park is located at the southern end of Sechelt Inlet in a forest of Douglas fir, western red cedar, western hemlock, maple and alder. An 84 site campground provides toilets and showers. A cyclist only camping area with 40 sites is located nearby. Walking trails and sandy beaches are just some of the parks features.

From Pender Harbour to Egmont:
Garden Bay Provincial Park. This day-use park is located 37 km north of Sechelt. A picnic area is provided. Swimming and fishing are popular pastimes.

Skookumchuk Narrows Park. Near the northern tip of the Sechelt Peninsula this park provides the visitor with 4 km of trails to view the tidal activity. "Skookumchuk" is a Chinook word meaning turbulent waters.

From Jervis Inlet to Okeover Arm:
Saltery Bay Provincial Park. Noted for its excellent scuba diving, Saltery Bay provides the visitor with the perfect area to view sea life. Killer whales, seals and sea lions are resident in the offshore waters. The area is popular with sport fishermen. A 42 site campground and picnic areas are provided.

Okeover Arm Provincial Park. The park is located 19 km north of Powell River. A small 5 site campground and boat launch are provided.

Marine Parks:

Howe Sound:
Halkett Bay Marine Park. Located on the east side of Gambier Island, this marine park provides visitors with mooring, buoys, dinghy floats and pit toilets.

Plumper Cove Marine Park. This park is located on the northwest side of Keats Island. A wharf and mooring buoys provide access to the campsite where fire pits, water, trails and a beach are found.

Strait of Georgia:
Buccaneer Bay Marine Park. This park is located at the southern tip of North Thormanby Island. Anchorage for larger boats is provided and the sandy beach is accessible by dinghy.

Simson Marine Park. Located on South Thormanby Island, this park is undeveloped but a pebble beach with good swimming is available.

Smugglers Cove Marine Park. Five campsites with toilets and hiking trails are provided.

 
Desolation Sound Area:
Copeland Islands Marine Park. These islands are located northwest of Lund and provide good kayaking. Wilderness camping is permitted.

Teakerne Arm Marine Park. This park is located on Lewis Channel on the west side of Redonda Island. The Cassel Lake and Cassel Falls are the areas main attractions.

Desolation Sound Marine Park. This is BC's largest marine park. Scuba diving and swimming are favorite pastimes in the many small bays and coves. Major anchorages include Prideaux Haven, Tenedos Bay and Grace Harbour.

Roscoe Bay Marine Park. Located on the east side of West Redonda Island. Tent sites and hiking trails to Black Lake are provided.

Walsh Cove Marine Park. This sheltered anchorage is located on West redonda island in the Waddington Channel.

Jervis Inlet:
Musket Island Marine Park. This undeveloped area provides anchorage in Blind Bay south of hardy Island.

Harmony Island Marine Park. This park is located in Hotham Sound and provides sheltered anchorages.

Sechelt Inlets Recreation Area. Eight wilderness campsites are found in this park. The surrounding area provides great kayaking.
